The Armpit was created in 2002 as an outlet to entertain disgruntled pro wrestling fans in response to the widespread frustration we all felt watching the product at the time.
The Armpit gained a cult following, thanks to its large collection of backstage fights stories, Pick My Brain interviews with legends like Paul Bearer and JJ Dillon, satirical news articles, wacky features like Manboob Mania, and crowd favorites like Dear Dr. Dave, Celebrity Rants, Stupid Things Said by Stupid Marks, Comics, and Road Stories. With THE ARMPIT BUNDLE you can can permanently own many of those classic archives that have since been removed from the internet.
The “Backstage Fights” section was, by far, the most popular page on The Armpit website during its heyday. Since The Armpit is now dormant and no longer active, I decided to put all the Backstage Fights in an e-book so that the stories would live on forever. And while I was at it, I did the same with our famous quizzes, Pick My Brain interviews, and satirical news articles.
Each backstage fight has been thoroughly researched, thanks to newsletters, podcasts, shoot interviews, books, and, yes, some hearsay. Because of the time I put into those, they’re probably the most accurate accounts you’ll find anywhere else. Our Jacques Rougeau vs Dynamite Kid report, for example, takes up 16 pages in the book in detailed chronological order!
I’ve followed the pro wrestling business at a hardcore, passionate level since 1986. Along with all the research I’ve done I’ve added my wealth of knowledge to put everything into perspective to, I hope, provide a fair assessment of each story.
The Armpit was the creative highlight of my life, once called “Brilliant stuff” by Dave Meltzer and I even wrote a segment for the Howard Stern Show (the August 12, 2008 episode) in which Fred the Elephant Boy answered my questions (getting waxed for each question he answered incorrectly). Its archives are now in e-book form for all to enjoy.
My passion for pro wrestling ended during the COVID lockdown, as the creative storylines no longer connected with me and newsletters like the Wrestling Observer Newsletter jumped the shark. At that point I stopped writing for The Armpit and moved onto other interests. Still, we produced such hilarious, intelligent, well-written material that it’d be a shame if it were lost forever.
If you were an old Armpit fan, or even if you never heard of us before, I promise you will not be disappointed with your purchase. Enjoy the e-books and thank you for stopping by. I definitely miss the old days, but having all the old stuff now at my fingertips in these e-books allows me to re-live them constantly!
My name is the Wrestling Professor, and I’ve been a hardcore, die-hard pro wrestling fan since 1986. I created The Armpit in 2002 as an outlet for my frustrations with the wrestling business, and it quickly grew and gained a cult following through its hilarious, entertaining, intelligent, sleazy, sarcastic style of writing and innovative features.
Why should you listen to what I have to say?
Because I lived, breathed, and slept this business with an undying passion for 35 years. Combine that with creativity, humor, and knowledge, and you have several e-books that are guaranteed to keep your interest and teach you something new.
The Armpit is no more, but with the Bundle you can have its archives and enjoy them forever!
WHAT IS THE ARMPIT?
The Armpit was pro wrestling’s least trusted news source from 2002 through 2018. We provided hard-hitting news, interactive contributions from readers, and exclusive feature articles and interviews that aimed to inform and entertain.
WHAT’S YOUR REFUND POLICY?
Due to the digital nature of this product, all sales are final and non-refundable. Please contact us if you have any questions about the contents of these ebooks.
WERE YOU REALLY ON THE HOWARD STERN SHOW?
Yes, twice. When Eric the Actor did a wrestling quiz, we wrote the questions Howard read on the air. When Fred the Elephant Boy did a wrestling quiz and got waxed, we wrote most (but not all) of the questions. Both shows aired in 2008.
ARE YOUR STORIES REAL OR FAKE?
Just like pro wrestling, the truth is somewhere in between. The “news” is clearly intended to be satire. The Pick My Brain interviews are 100% real, however. The Backstage Fights strive to be authentic, but their veracity is not guaranteed. That isn’t by design, that’s just the nature of hearsay stories told by people in a profession where lying is often the norm.
WHY IS THE ARMPIT NO LONGER ACTIVE?
Quite simply, we lost our passion for pro wrestling during the COVID-19 “pandemic.” The whole woke culture that followed really turned us off and we just can’t get into the product anymore.
IS THE ARMPIT ON SOCIAL MEDIA?
No. If you see any page claiming to be The Armpit, it’s either inactive or fake.
